Retail winner: Ruggles Green Sugar Land
Ruggles Green at 15903 City Walk in Sugar Land was built in eight months — from March to October 2012.
The Sugar Land location was the third opened by the company in the Houston area and the first in suburban Houston. It is in the process of being evaluated by the Green Restaurant Association, and the restaurant hopes to get a four-star rating from the organization, which would rank Ruggles Green among only a few restaurants in the nation with such a rating.
The restaurant is completely wind-powered, lit with LED lighting, and incorporated recycled and renewable materials in its construction. The location also has an on-site herb garden, among other amenities.
Ruggles Green offers local, organic and gluten-free dining options for patrons, which in turn directly benefits the local economy.
